This historic hamlet of Abbot Mount is situated at an altitude of about 7,000 ft above sea level in the eastern part of the Kumaon Hills near the small town of Lohaghat in Champavat District.

Our house, "Snow View" is one of the thirteen cottages built by J.H. Abbott the founder of this small hill station. On a clear day from September to May, on can see an unobstructed view of the higher Himalayas, from the Gangotri massive on the left to the Dhaulagiri range on the right. A panoramic view of 600 kilometers of snow covered Himalayas with Nanda Devi and Panchaculi at the centre

Nestled amongst five acres of a private garden and deodar forests

"Snow View" is the ideal place for a holiday without any distractions, especially for those who want to paint and read and write - far from the crowds and distractions of the 'rat race'. Its a perfect retreat for families from the long hot summers of the plains. its the type of place where one could comfortably reside for a week or a couple of months at a stretch. Though we believe once exposed to its charms you prefer the later.

Abbott Mount was founded by and named after Mr. John Harold Abbott of Jhansi. An English businessman who wanted to start a hill station for the European community at the turn of the 20th century. Unlike many Indian hill stations Abbott Mount has changed little since its inception. There are only thirteen secluded cottages spread over this private hill. "Snow view" cottage was built by J. H. Abbott for his son and daughter in law. There is a picturesque church set amidst the forest and and a ancient cricket pitch with an unsurpassed view of the mountains.
